HØRSHOLM CHURCH, HOERSHOLM, DENMARK
On the occasion of the church’s 200th anniversary in 2024, the interior was carefully restored under the direction of ERIK Architects, specialists in the conservation of historic buildings. Inspired by C.F. Hansen’s neoclassical vision, the church was brought back to its original architectural essence – while integrating discreet, contemporary improvements.
Colours and materials were reinstated in calm, authentic tones.
Lighting plays a key architectural role: Tulip pendants in the nave, Dybbøl ceiling luminaires in the aisles, and custom-designed brass wall fixtures from Okholm Lighting in the gallery, combining functionality with atmosphere. A continuous LED frieze accentuates the vaulted ceiling and the barrel vaults above the altar and organ, creating a softly graduated illumination.
The result is a harmonious synthesis of light, colour, and architecture – with respect for history and a clear focus on present-day needs.
