FROM AUCTION HALL TO DESIGN HOUSE
Carl Hansen & Søn has taken over the historic premises at Bredgade 33 – once home to Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers. Now, the design classics return to the space, not as auction pieces, but as newly produced furniture and lighting.
The interior has been carefully restored with respect for the building’s heritage – from stucco ceilings and herringbone floors to large windows that flood the space with daylight. Light and material meet in a bright, calm atmosphere.
Okholm Lighting has delivered the lighting design, showcasing Carl Hansen & Søn’s new lighting collection featuring designs by Wegner, Koppel, and Tuxen. Pendant lamps and chandeliers in brass and glass create both aesthetic coherence and technical precision.
The Tulip pendant – originally created for the Carlsberg Academy and now part of the collection – sets the tone: refined and balanced. Unique chandeliers like Gren, Armilla and Tulip enrich the experience and are DALI-controlled, combining visual comfort with high-quality light.
On the first floor, a stylish “balcony garden” opens up, featuring outdoor furniture by Børge Mogensen and Bodil Kjær. The entire space has been curated with care – blending history and modernity, where craftsmanship, light and design speak as one.
