Church of Sundby

Church of Sundby

The church of Sundby was build in 1870 after drawings by architect and professor Hans J. Holm. Up until the mid-1960's the interior was marked by the original heavy and sombre new Gothic. Lighting, colours, and surfaces then changed to the typical style of the 60's with ceiling pendants made in acryl, beech parquet, and blue shades.

The new lighting of the church, the light arcs, which are first stage of a perential complete restauration, are meant to accentuate the fine symmetric geometry of the church rooms. The light spreads from a "vault of heaven" of tiny lighting points and lets the high, overarched church room and the beautiful panes shine.

The architect company CUBUS has designed and OKHOLM LIGHTING A/S has produced the customized lighting for this unique lighting project. 33 light arcs with 830 pieces of 10 W halogen bulbs in total give the church room a unique decoration and an effective lighting system.
