By & Havn, in collaboration with the consultancy BARK, has created a new 1,500 m² activity area by Orientkaj Metro Station—developed through workshops with girls from Randersgade School and Copenhagen International School, and in close dialogue with COBE.
Located beneath the elevated metro structure, the site brings together training and lingering in an urban space where the “concrete ceiling” becomes an active spatial device. After dark, lighting reinforces the architectural staging and creates a distinctive, safe evening setting.
At the heart of the park stands a stainless-steel work by artist Beatrice Hansson, functioning both as a sculptural landmark and as equipment for parkour and functional training. The landscape and zones were built by Malmos with an emphasis on robust materiality: raw concrete, hot-dip galvanised elements, and stainless-steel apparatus, tied together by warm beige surfacing. Pro Sundhed provides digital training guides accessed via QR codes integrated into the site.
G9 delivered bespoke benches and litter bins derived from Operaparken’s furniture language; two benches feature extra-wide, “floating” seats as informal social nodes, subtly underlit by Okholm Lighting. The project places young women in particular at the centre, prioritising safety, aesthetics, staying, and movement.
