Jardin’s Pavilion, built in 1763 and situated behind Christian VII’s Palace, was formally reopened on 31 October 2023 following an extensive restoration led by Rønnow Arkitekter.
As part of the restoration, a new lighting scheme was developed in collaboration with Okholm Lighting, designed to support the pavilion’s classical character and materiality. The lighting is discreet and precise — inspired by Neoclassical luminaire forms, with clear glass and carefully balanced proportions.
Although the pavilion was not originally electrified, the present lighting appears as a natural and respectful addition to the architecture. The pendants are made in three sizes in steel, finished in Grafital 351. The largest is placed in the rotunda, the medium-sized pendants in the aviaries and tea salon, and the smallest in the nymphaeum. Together, they create a calm rhythm and a balanced distribution of light, gently carrying forward the original spirit of the pavilion.
The restoration was made possible with the support of the A.P. Moller Foundation. A. P. Møller og hustru Chastine McKiney-Møllers Fond til almene Formaal.
