As part of a comprehensive energy retrofit, the outdoor common areas between the housing blocks were renewed in parallel. The client/developer was Arbejdernes Andels-Boligforening (AAB), with DOMUS Arkitekter acting as architect and design consultant. Kragh & Berglund are listed as the project’s landscape architects.
The detailed design of the external works was undertaken by A+ Anlæg, commissioned to both refurbish the shared amenity areas and climate-proof the site through a LAR system (local stormwater management / local rainwater diversion). The solution was required to handle stormwater efficiently while also creating inviting, safe recreational spaces.
The site is planned as a large, open amenity and activity area with playgrounds and concrete seating. Several of the concrete benches incorporate an integrated LED strip, providing warm, functional, non-glare ground illumination—adding a discreet decorative and reflective effect. The lighting supports perceived safety and intuitive wayfinding by calmly delineating key path alignments without disturbing the surroundings. The concrete benches were manufactured by Aarhus Cementvarefabrik.
