Tinèlle is a restaurant where history and contemporary gastronomy blend with refined elegance.
Located in Mechelen, it resides in Het Predikheren – a former 17th-century monastery and military hospital, now transformed into a cultural landmark (see also Het Predikheren Klooster under Historic Buildings). The restaurant occupies the building’s left wing, once a resting place for travelling monks, now reimagined as a welcoming interior where tradition meets modern culinary craft.
The space offers a compelling fusion of the monastery’s rustic charm and contemporary comfort, with Franco-Belgian cuisine served in an atmosphere steeped in history. Lighting plays a central role in shaping the ambience: a curated yet playful combination of the Lyng Pendant, Trinitatis pendant and Scan pendant forms a seemingly casual composition. This arrangement adds rhythm and warmth, enhancing the architectural authenticity of the space.
