HINDSGAVL SLOT

HINDSGAVL CASTLE, MIDDELFART, DENMARK

The former cattle barn at Hindsgavl Castle in Middelfart has been gently transformed into modern hotel and conference facilities, with careful attention to preserving the building’s original character. Exners Tegnestue, now E+N architects, led the project with a clear ambition to retain the atmosphere linked to the site’s past – once home to dairy cattle, now a space defined by presence and calm.

The renovation is characterised by a refined understanding of materials and context. Reused brick and preserved elements have been thoughtfully integrated, adding a sense of refined rusticity – honest and simple, yet elegant.

Lighting has been conceived as an integral part of the overall expression. Brass fixtures bring a warm contrast to the rough surfaces and support the understated exclusivity of the space.

SCAN pendants and TRINITATIS WALL have been used – both featuring a clean architectural language that fits naturally into the rustic surroundings. SCAN pendants are used both creatively and functionally, in harmony with the material palette. TRINITATIS pendants have been used as wall lighting, where their glare-free up- and downlighting adds both ambience and visual softness to the hotel corridors.

The lighting is not merely functional – it contributes atmosphere, warmth and identity to this historically rooted space.
