OKHOLM LIGHTING STRENGTHENS ITS ORGANISATION
Okholm Lighting strengthens its organisation
– with clearly defined roles and a shared direction
Peter Okholm takes the strategic lead in advancing the company’s expertise and vision, strengthening strategic relationships and developing new projects, while Steffan Schou becomes Managing Director with overall responsibility for day-to-day management.

Okholm Lighting carries the family’s name and history. The company was founded by Peter’s father, and over the past 30 years, Peter Okholm has been a driving force in making it the business it is today.
Through his professional insight, his understanding of architecture and light, and his ability to recognise opportunities, Peter has made a lasting contribution to the company’s development. Under his leadership, the project portfolio has broadened, and Okholm Lighting’s expertise has been applied in an increasingly diverse range of architectural contexts.
The next step is to consolidate and build on that progress. Peter’s work will therefore focus on the market, strategic relationships and projects where Okholm Lighting’s expertise and in-house production can add particular value.
This means strengthening relationships with architects, lighting designers, developers and clients, and staying close to projects where new opportunities emerge. Drawing on his many years of experience and strong network, Peter will play a central role in developing the company’s market position and creating new business opportunities.
Two clearly defined roles – one shared direction
After becoming part of Carl Hansen & Søn in 2024, Okholm Lighting is now taking the next step in its development.
Steffan Schou, previously Production Manager, becomes Managing Director with overall responsibility for day-to-day management, finance, the organisation and production. At the same time, Peter Okholm takes on a clearly defined strategic responsibility for market development, relationships, the advancement of the company’s expertise and new projects.
The two roles are closely connected. Peter’s work will strengthen the company’s market position and create new opportunities, while Steffan’s responsibility is to ensure the organisational, production and financial strength needed to turn those opportunities into reality.
This deliberate division of responsibilities is designed to make Okholm Lighting even stronger – both in its engagement with the market and in developing and delivering the solutions each project requires.
Specialised lighting demands specialist expertise
When lighting must respect a historic building, support complex functions or realise an architectural vision, it takes more than a standard product.
It requires technical lighting expertise, an understanding of materials, specialist craftsmanship and flexible production capable of translating ideas into durable, viable solutions.
The organisation is being strengthened around this foundation of expertise. The aim is to create greater opportunities to apply Okholm Lighting’s capabilities across a wider range of projects and architectural contexts.
Leadership close to production
Steffan Schou joined Okholm Lighting in 2024 with responsibility for developing and streamlining operations and production, including the coordination of bespoke project work and series production.
As Managing Director, he will have overall responsibility for day-to-day management, ensuring that the company has the structure, capacity and competitiveness needed to realise opportunities in the market.
“Over the past 30 years, Peter has made a significant contribution to Okholm Lighting through his expertise and vision. My task will be to ensure that our organisation, production and finances support our continued development and enable us to turn new opportunities into sound solutions and reliable delivery. That calls for leadership that stays close to our employees, production and customers, and I look forward to taking the company forward together with Peter and the rest of the team,” says Steffan Schou.
Expertise and vision in close dialogue with the market

Peter Okholm will focus in particular on relationships with architects, lighting designers and developers, as well as collaboration with clients, public authorities, foundations and cultural institutions.
A central part of his role will be to build on the diversity already achieved in the project portfolio and identify new contexts where Okholm Lighting’s expertise can make a difference.
Peter will also remain closely involved in projects at the stages where ideas, ambitions and solutions take form.
“I have been part of Okholm Lighting for 30 years, and what continues to motivate me is seeing the possibilities in a project and making the connection between architecture, light and what we can achieve through our in-house production. We have significantly broadened our project portfolio over the years. Now we need to build on that progress, open new doors and strengthen the relationships that can take us forward. The new structure allows me to focus my efforts on the areas where my experience, relationships and expertise can help drive the next stage of Okholm Lighting’s development,” says Peter Okholm.
While Steffan Schou leads day-to-day management and takes responsibility for organisational and production development, Peter Okholm will continue to set the direction for the development of the company’s expertise, its market position and its wider strategy.
Together, the two roles will strengthen Okholm Lighting as a specialist in lighting solutions developed in close connection with the architecture, the setting and the particular requirements of each project.
